Inn At Laurel Point Blog | Stay different…

Saying goodbye to a dear friend and colleague …

It’s never easy to make this kind of announcement and it’s with a heavy heart I write this blog post.

On Saturday, March 12, our dear furry friend and honourary greeter, Cliff, suddenly passed away of suspected heart failure. As you can imagine, this was a huge shock to the entire team here at Inn at Laurel Point, particularly to his “dad,” Chris Jones, our Director of Food and Beverage.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning on the day that Cliff passed. He was doing what he loved best: running, playing and being his general goofy self, with his favourite person, Chris. We take a little peace in knowing that although his time on this Earth was cut way too short, that he lived a happy life and was surrounded by so much love at home and at the Inn at Laurel Point.

We’re currently in the process of putting together a remembrance for Cliff; to be displayed somewhere in or around the hotel. One idea we’ve come up with is to erect a placard in the grassy area behind the hotel, near the harbour front. This seems like a suitable place as it was a spot where Cliff loved to hang out – a place where, last October, four-month-old Cliff made his media debut and charmed everyone in sight by trotting around in the grass, munching on dried leaves.

We thank all of you who have already contacted us and offered us your support and care as we go through this tough time.
